grilled bananas

Home ~ Recipes ~ Blog

I'm not real big on bananas, never have been, but this is a pretty tasty and quick dessert, and even I like it. This is also a great dessert after you have already grilled some steaks, chicken, or chops, as the grill is already to go.

Serves 4

4 firm, ripe bananas
Spray vegetable oil
Vanilla ice cream
Caramel sauce

Cut the bananas through the stems lengthwise in half, spray the uncut side with vegetable oil. Place the bananas on the pre-heated grill (medium heat) cut side down directly over the heat. Cover and grill for about 2 minutes, until lightly browned. Flip them over and grill with the skin side down for about 2-4 more minutes. When done, arrange 2 banana halves on a shallow bowl or plate, top with ice cream, and drizzle the caramel sauce on top of it all.

I know ice cream is not particularly heart-healthy. If you're concerned about your arteries, which we all should be, use ice milk instead.
